Teeth Whitening and the different treatments available

Tooth whitening breaks down into two simple categories, regardless of the massive range of products available out there.  There is the scale and polish method, as may be provided by a dental hygienist, where stains and discolouration are buffed away to leave teeth shinier and restore their natural colour.  Or if the natural colour is not white enough, there is bleaching in many different forms.  Bleaching ranges from professional dental jobs, to home kits, to simply whitening toothpastes, but all contain a bleaching agent of varying strengths.

Wanting whiter teeth is just a natural impulse, but it is not something that should be done without caution.  Your dentist can advise you on what is the best method for you and either carry out in surgery whitening or direct you to/supply products for home teeth whitening.  Most dentists in London will be able to provide these services so you should always seek their professional advice before going ahead with any system.  Cases have arisen of people buying home whitening products from the internet and then suffering injuries because either instructions are unclear or the products themselves are simply dangerous.

Depending on whether you want immediate, dramatic results or longer term solutions there are teeth whitening products out there for you, consult with your dentist who has undergone relative dental courses to see which will suit you best.

If you do opt for in surgery professional whitening, be prepared for some sensitivity in the first two days after the treatment, although just by avoiding very hot or cold food and liquids this can be kept to a minimum.
